Workshop info
The workshop is open to all levels. Come as you are, I will meet you where you’re at and challenge you according to your abilities and choices.
Ground based locomotion
Locomotion is a never-ending form of physical practice. Moving close to the ground improves upper body strength and connectivity through our midsection. It's versatility can be used to rehab injuries, work around physical limitations, and simply allow each individual to enjoy movement in its purest form. In the workshop, we will slice the locomotion practice up in multiple ways; we will learn core principles of fluid movement, forms, patterns that expand our toolbox, as well as modes of improvisation to foster playfulness and creativity.
Floor work
On the floor we are sliced by gravity in a unique way, hence floor movement offers movement possibilities like no other medium. In this section, we will explore the core principles of floor movement, working with fundamental patterns, and open tasks to develop both structure and freedom. From basic accessibility to complex flows, we will enjoy the therapeutic, rehabilitative, and creative qualities that floor work has to offer
Arching & Inversions
Arching cultivates a supple, resilient spine. It develops our proprioception and unlocks our ability to move backward. In this section, we will refine and strengthen our arching foundations, exploring the helical qualities of the spine. Through dynamic arching patterns, we will tap into our core spirals, and find harmony and flow. We will extend our movement capabilities to a full 360-degree range and enjoy the freedom and creativity of acrobatic practice.
Footwork & coordination
Footwork is the foundation of graceful, elegant movement. Light and smart feet are essential for athletic performance as well as graceful aging. In this section, we will use a playful approach to develop well-organized, interconnected bodies, improving elasticity and fostering agility on our feet.
Soft mobility & physical preparation
Unlike strict mobility poses, soft mobility practice tunes us into our body, and expands our limits from the inside out, while taking into account the unique structure of each individual. In this section we will use micro articulations and large frame movement, chaos and order, to dissolve stiffness and promote a comfortable experience within our frame to support our longevity and physical practice.
